Equipping athletes with tools for mental well-being and self preservation

OUR MISSION
person > player
The POP Project was designed to train athletes on self-preservation amidst the demands of the athletic industry.
Our mission is to protect the person beneath the player. POP sessions feature connection, personal experiences and provide athletes with practical skills they can use whenever they need support.
OUR
SESSIONS
Below are our most requested sessions. All are customized to your group after we connect with you.
If you're looking for a specific topic that you don't see below, let's create it!
Sessions can be booked individually or as a bundle.
Dealing with Adversity
Unavoidable inside and outside of athletics, we all face adversity throughout our lives. This session will teach athletes how they can recognize and manage adversity through real life examples. Participants are also taught practical tools to help care for themselves during adverse times.
Dealing with Stress
Stress is part of high level competition but that doesn't mean we should ignore the negative impact it can have on mental wellbeing. This session provides athletes with tools to effectively manage stress, acknowledge when it is time to reach out for help and how they can reach out for help.
Building & Maintaining Confidence
Building and maintaining confidence is a project in itself. This session acknowledges that confidence will be tested on an ongoing basis and provides tools to help build, re-build and maintain confidence amdist adversity.
Communication & Leadership
Being a leader can come with a lot of pressure. Athletes are often role models while still learning themselves. This session provides insight into how athletes can become effective commincators and transparent leaders.
Positive Body Image
Perhaps one of the most difficult topics for athletes to navigate, body image is also one of the most important. Athletes exist in 2 worlds -- the "athletic" world and the "regular" world, where body standards tend to be polar opposites. This session acknowledges how difficult this can be on the psyche and provides tools to work towards overall self-love and acceptance.
Self Care for Athletes
What self-care looks like for athletes is different than the cliche that society has set. It involves setting boundaries, taking care of their mind and honouring their bodies. This session breaks down the self-care trend and offers practical forms of self-care for athletes that they can use inside and outside of sport.

FAQs
OUR

What age group is the POP Project for?
Any age! It’s never too early or too late to work on our mental wellbeing. Since each program will be tailored to the specific age group, we ask that the participants are within 2 years of each other to ensure concepts, vocabulary and examples resonate with the athletes.
Is the POP Project for athletes only?
The POP Project was created for athletes, but we offer sessions tailored to coaches and parents in an effort to educate anyone with an impact on the athletes personal development.
What can we expect after the sessions end?
The POP Project is reflective of a person’s real life -- ongoing and ever changing. We aim to create a community where, even after physical sessions come to a close, athletes and their supporters are still able to connect with us or with like minded individuals on our social media accounts.
Why did you start the POP Project?
After graduating we found ourselves in a world we didn’t recognize -- the people in our lives were no longer coaches, teammates or our competitors and we weren’t sure what that made us. We quickly realized we were never trained for real life. We didn't know how to navigate what we were feeling and without the safety blanket of our athletic identity, we felt lost and confused. We didn't want other athletes to feel out of control of their own bodies and feelings so we began equipping them with tools they can use during and after sport -- to grow their identity as a person first and foremost.
